Blustery Day

It's very windy today. I'm not sure what the temp. is, but I don't want to find out! Just another Sunday at home. Going to do some surfing later. Want to find info. on low light herbs and house plants. Feeling in the mood to start growing. Interesting. Last year I couldn't bring myself to even think about growing something. How things change in a short time. I also need to look up uses for Peat Moss. When my neighbours moved out last summer they gave us about 36 cubic feet of Peat Moss. I'm sure there's a good use for it?

Other than that, I'm getting pretty excited to go away. Not so much about putting a bathing suit on this body... perhaps this will kick start my motivation. Either that or humiliate me into working out.

OH! I bought some great fabric yesterday. Didn't intend to, but it was really cute and it was on SALE. Not sure what I'll make with it yet - pillows & curtains were my first thought. I also bought a pattern for pants/shorts. It says EASY on the package... Need to get fabric for those. I wanted to buy 4 other patterns, but gave myself a reality check. I'll never have time. But - if I keep thinking about them, I'll have to go get them.

French Market Bag progress - still knitting. It's the knit forever bag!

Going to venture back into my dancing days as well. I barried that part of me. Time to bring her back out. This may help me get in shape :)

signing off.
roger out.

there once was a girl

There once was a girl
who liked to look at flowers
Though not in patterns

Only planting and
growing and in her sewing
But never on walls

What? you ask in frightful dismay. Trying to somehow make sense of the crazyness. Me too. Today, this week, this month I have spent way too much time just trying to make sense of it all. The book I'm reading says that you need to... yes, it's come that far - I'm reading a self help book. Well, let's just say it has given me some coping skills. Hopefully I'll cope long enough and not drive others too crazy.

Need to help a boy download his creative works.

Good night moon - and oh how big and bright you are tonight.

New Rings

Today was a great day. I have applied for passport - Cuba here I come! I also had breakfast at a wonderful little coffee shop downtown I haven't been to in a few years. Nice to be back on ol' stompin' grounds. On my way back to the parkade, I discovered this beautiful little jewellery boutique. Her window display of sparkles & red drew me in... I bought two beautiful rings, massage oil for my man (wink), and slate rock tea candle holders that are made in BC. (I've been looking for these locally.) I also introduced myself to the lady working there, and we talked for 45mins or more... Sometimes when you meet people ~ you just connect.

This afternoon I had to go for X-rays - one of the joys of 'maturing' is our bodies don't run as smoothly, or as pain free as they used to. I must compliment the lady who took my 'photos', as she was very kind, gentle, and didn't make me feel naked - even though I was :) Thank you...

I also received my third set of retainers... very long story, but the up-to-the-minute version is that if these do not fix the issue, I will need to get braces put back on the bottom. So much for that experience being finished.

To end the day I finished with 12 mins. of soaking up UV, UB, and whatever other U rays are out there, in preparation for vacation. Damn that's relaxing - bad for me, but it feels sooo good. I covered my face...

After completing a few rows of my French Market Bag bottom (that I have unravelled once already - damn st. st., why couldn't it have been straight knit like it was when I read the pattern the first time...), I stopped to write a quick note on my blog (I'm hip, I'm cool). I must sign off however, as a hot bath awaits me and a writing project for tomorrow's class that I haven't started or even thought about yet. Oh yeah - I should paint my nails to give that ring the showcase it deserves :)

Good night moon.

This funky flower with 'tude' was growing in my neighbors garden last summer. I had to sneak over and get a pic of her. Ah summer.... Posted by Hello

2nd base...

If blogging were baseball and setting up your site was hitting the ball, and the 1st entry was first base - I'm about to run to 2nd base and yes... you guessed it - post a photo... here goes

What's with the baseball analogy? I guess I'm just really missing summer.

testing....

Oh - this is my very first posting, and I'm a little freaked...

Let me start by explaining the name ~ Jak-in-the-Box. j.a.k. is my initials and also denotes my personality to some degree - jack of all trades, master of none - well, that would be me.

This blog site will be contain All Things Me:
  • Knitting projects
  • Wine comments
  • Writing projects
  • Motorcycle experiences
  • Exercise woes, and
  • pretty much anything else that strikes my fancy.

For example, the other night on the way home from the store I noticed I had purchased a Fitness magazine and a Knitting magazine - yes, the knitting one has been looked at more, carried with me to work, and shows loving crease marks on almost every page while the fitness magazine patiently awaits my motivation to kick in - and it will. It Must actually! I'm headed to Cuba in 3 weeks (from today), and my friends cellulite and flab will be accomanying me unless I kick it into high gear.

Well, here I go - off to work out. With my new blog started, I have entered a new era of journalling for me... We'll see where it takes me.
