Harvest

My second love to knitting is wine. What a better way to spend out 9th wedding anniversary than touring our own back yard and discovering local vineyards, tasting their delicious wine, and relaxing in the beautiful Fall sun.

We stayed at a B&B called the The Olde Lantern Inn & Vineyard in the most recently renovated room, The Wine Cellar. It was perfect - cork floors, spruce board ceiling ~ beautiful. We had our own entrance and a little piece of heaven just outside our room at the side of the house:

There's no wine in my hand because we were headed to a tasting @ Grand Pre. It was so much fun and the service was excellent. We left with 3 bottles of red, 3 bottles of white, and 2 bottles of Apple Ice Wine - we needed to cover Thanksgiving & Christmas :)

We also hit Gaspereau Valley Fibres while there. I didn't seem to have the same customer service issues as other bloggers, but I didn't have children with me. I did notice it was very different there though - like something or someone was missing. They also seem to be missing some of the yarn they used to carry as well as some of the charm... I did however, manage to make a purchase :) I picked out Organic Wool/Cotton blend from Green Mountain Spinnery for the Tyrolean Stockings in the Fall 2007 issue of Interweave. I picked a wonderful shade of gray called Storm. Have started and LOVE the pattern. They are quite lovely - will wear all Winter!

Also purchased Hand Maiden Cashmere to knit up a toque for Mr. jak. He picked it out himself. So unlike him to be interested in yarn... he even picked a nice one - I was so impressed!

~ Will post pics. of these items once we get our camera back from being cleaned. I think we left it out in the elements one too many nights this summer.

We then headed to NB to be with our family for Thanksgiving. While there we hit up some neighbors for their apple and plumb trees:

Many thanks to 'the Neighbors' for their fruit! I've already made two Apple Dapple cakes, and 2 double batches of applesauce - nothing like homemade applesauce - Yummy!

While I was working hard harvesting fruit, little jak was being a monkey.

Can you see him? He's the little speck hanging upside down from the bottom branch. He blends so well in his red hoodie.

To end a wonderful Thanksgiving week - we headed to my mom's for dinner and to play on the trampoline.
Lessons learned:
- Play on Trampoline Before Dinner, not after.
- Jump only with people your size or smaller, not bigger.
- If someone bigger gets on, be limber and loose. If you tense up, you will get hurt.

Ahhh - what a wonderfully, beautiful Fall....
